ARDENNAISE BANTAM (AA)

D. : Untidy race

A - MAJORITIES

Country of origin: Belgium: the Ardennes.

Distribution and peculiarities: very wide-spread, good pondeuse of white eggs about 38g. Good incubator and mother.

Rings: Cock 12 mm; Hen 12 mm

Weight: Cock: 650g, Hen: 550g

B - TYPE AND POPULAR PURPOSE

Proud, lively and slim poultry. Shape and port(bearing) of the tail are appropriate(clean) for the race. The tail is ample and forms a beautiful panache. Sickles have a peculiarity: they are very wide of the base in their environment(middle), narrowing then, but without ending in a pointed point. Rectrices are wide and carried(worn) squeezed(tightened) well. The camail and the lancets are abundantly developed and come down(fall) very low. A strong dark pigmentation is very visible in the face, the beak, the skin, the ornaments of the head, the tarsi and the fingers, nails and spurs. The face and the ornaments of the head have the colour of a blackberry crushed except for variety show Gilt and Silvered.

C - STANDARD

COCK

PORT(BEARING): Proud and raised(found); the breast not too much carried(worn) forwards.

BODY: Of lengthened(stretched out) shape, bowing towards the back.

HEAD: fine and small.

CREST: Simple, average, straight(right) and implanted well, 5 regular teeth, the posterior lobe not getting(touching) the back of the head. The texture is fine, red bored in blackish.

BEAK: Strong(hardly), average, a little bent towards the point, colour hooks bored.

EYES: big and round, with a lively expression; dark brown with a tour of black eye.

BARBS: Round off, of average, dark red size(greatness) in blackish.

MUMPS: thin, dark red in blackish, according to variety show.

FACE: fine and smooth, dark red Texture in blackish.

NECK: rather long, getting thinner upward and bent well. The long and developed well lancets.

CAMAIL: Length and developed well, falling on shoulders and the back, wrapping(surrounding) the most possible the neck.

BACK: rather long, bowing towards the back and forming an obtuse angle with the tail; wide between shoulders.

WINGS: rather long, closed well , carried(worn) squeezed(tightened) enough in the body; extremities are hidden under lancets, curved well.

TAIL: full and developed well , carried(worn) not too much high, in angle of 400 long and wide, not too much opened rectrices. But covering well itself each other, the long and wide sickles until their environment(middle), narrowing then, towards the point, to end rounded off well, gracefully bending and forming with the small sickles, the beautiful panache.

BREAST: full, rather wide, rounded off well and not too much carried(worn) forwards.

LEGS: Averages, seen with the front, right-hand sides and very parallel.

THIGHS: Visible without being striking.

TARSI: Smooth, fine, dark blue skeleton in blackish, according to the variety.

FINGERS: rights, among four, spread well(pushed aside well). Dark blue in blackish according to the variety. PLUMAGE: Smooth and tight against the body; feathers of sufficient width and round extremities; moderate forming(training) of sleeping bag.

HEN

The same characters as to the cock (except sexual differences) except:

HEAD: finer, a little bit long.

CREST, BARBS and MUMPS: smaller than to the cock, of blackish colour.

NECK: rather long, getting thinner upward and bent well, developed well camail.

BACK: Means, bowing towards back, wide between shoulders, forming an obtuse angle with the tail.

WINGS: rather long, closed well , carried(worn) squeezed(tightened) enough in the body, going extremities the one towards the other one.

TAIL: long, not too much opened; rectrices long, wide and covering well itself the one, the other one, carried(worn) under an angle of 200.

E - LIGHT DEFECTS

Strong or unrefined head, too big ornaments of the head. A little white in mumps, wings and tail carried(worn) too high or too low, the a little bit clear eyes, a little bit too much opened tail, a little bit short sickles, too high on paws.

F - GRAVE DEFECTS

Too short neck, not enough pigment in the ornaments of the head, too big type, several white nails, white in the oreillon at the young people.

G - DISQUALIFICATIONS

Too heavy (exceeding too much standard weight), beak, tarsi and nails, with a colour other than that of the standard, opened tail, too short back, lacks dark pigment, too much rounded off white, typical mumps, striking thighs.

H - VARIETY SHOW

BLACK

Ornaments of the head, dark red in blackish but not intense black, beak and nails fold bored, eyes very dark brown, tarsi very dark blue. Grave defect: purplish reflections.

For four black variety show with camail: Ornaments of the red head very dark in purple blackish; beak and nails hooks bored; dark brown eyes; dark blue tarsi.

GOLDEN called A SALMON GILD(BRONZE)

Ornaments of the red head; beak and nails hooks bored; tarsi steady blue.

Defects: pale Face; breast stained with red; rachis clearly dies pluck.

SILVERY called SILVERY SALMON

As golden variety. Defects: pale Face; breast stained with white to the cock; camail pailleux; rust on the back of the cock or the coverages of the hen; rachis feathers clearly.
