GLOSSARY (E - M)
ELEGANT MAN : say itself of a typified well but too light and not enough enriched subject; it is so a defect. To avoid the custom(usage) of this term which gives to confusion with the usual custom(usage) of the "elegant" adjective which would be rather a quality.
REMOVED : say itself of a too high subject on paws or too much raised. It is a defect.
SPUR : According to the authors can so indeed indicate(appoint) the thorn which prolongs a frizzy crest that the spur of cocks.
EAR : Small hoopoe(crest) formed with short not floating feathers ( The Arrow).
THORN : back Part, not fixed to the skull, of a frizzy crest. Corresponds to the lobe of a simple crest. Has to be aligned in the axis of the head.
EMBODIED THORN : short Thorn pushed in the mass of the crest. One says also suffocated(suppressed) thorn. It is a defect eliminating heat.
SPUR : folded Spur implanted on the back part interns tarsi of cocks and growing with the age. The absence on the grown-up cock is eliminating heat. The presence on the tarsi of a hen is also eliminating heat except for the fighting races.
FACE : Set(group) formed with cheeks and tour of eyes. Can be stripped(revealed) or slightly emplumée according to the races.
STARCHY FOOD : whitish or gray Spots in the thorough colour of a poultry. Often in rémiges. It should a defect be appreciated according to the area.
SICKLES : Big waisted feathers of the tail of cocks.
FAVOURITES(WHISKERS) : lateral Parts of a beard, masking mumps.
FLAMBÚ : Part central and colored differently from the circumference (generally in black) feathers or lancets of the camail and the loins. Can be full or in shape of "V".
FRISURE : Feathers raised(found) and arched in the camail; it is a light defect. Can also be synonymic of mane.
BOTHER : Particle carrying(wearing) a character of the race or the variety. Chromosomes are formed by a succession of bothers. The place of bothers is fixed on the chromosome and two identical bothers are face to face in a pair of chromosomes (except if they are heterozygous, to see this term). They are the bothers which pass on the characters of the relatives(parents) to their descent.
HETEROZYGOTE : abnormal Situation, for a pure race, where two bothers, interviews(confrontations) in a pair of chromosomes, are different. The descendants of heterozygous relatives(parents) are different among them. Inconvenient crossings between races and different variety show multiply heterozygous subjects. This situation is however necessary as to obtain the blue: bl / bl homozygote gives the black; homozygous BI / BI gives the dirty white; only the BI / BI association gives the blue. Being heterozygotes, blue subjects do not reproduce faithfully but give in their descent of overalls, dirty white and the blacks.
HOMOZYGOTE : normal Situation where two bothers, interviews(confrontations) on a pair of chromosomes, are strictly identical. So that a race and a variety reproduces very faithfully, it is necessary that all the bothers are homozygous.
VERY RICH(CRESTED) : Bundle of feathers of variable volume placed on the head of cocks and hens of certain races. The tall hoopoes(crests) are carried(worn) by a deformation of the skull in shape of bump. The feathers of the hoopoes(crests) of cocks are ended sharp, those of the hoopoes(crests) of hens in roundness. The very big development of the hoopoes(crests) of certain races comes along with a decrease, to see of a disappearance of the crest as to Padoue and very rich(crested) Dutchwoman.
VERY RICH(CRESTED) SPLIT : Defect of certain hoopoes(crests) divided into two instead of remaining very spherical.
IRIS : Part colored with the eye which surrounds pupil.
LEG : Or together of the rear limb. "Pestle" in a carcass left carried(worn) with the shin, named(appointed); in fact this leave is often named(appointed) improperly "thigh" on the alive animal; it is an error, but confirmed by the custom(usage), including in this standard.
LACED : Term used formerly to indicate(appoint) the border which surrounds certain feathers. The custom(usage) should be banned,
LANCETS : Feathers lengthened(stretched out) with the camail and the loins of cocks. Often used to indicate(appoint) the only feathers of loins as in the expression: camail and lancets.
BORDER : Border, colored differently from the centre, surrounding finely and regularly a feather. "Laced" term is incorrect for this custom(usage).
BOUND(CONNECTED) TO the SEX : call itself of a bother carried(worn) with the sexual chromosomes. They are so in pair to the cock and isolated to the hen. The transmission of characters bound(connected) to the sex can so be different on the male descendants and the descendants females.
LOBE : back Part, beyond the implanting on the skull, beyond the simple crest. Corresponds to the thorn of a frizzy crest.
CUFF : Set(group) of more or less stiff feathers, prolonging the plumage of thighs beyond their joint(articulation) with the tarsus. Defect to certain races but quality in the others.
MESHING : elliptic, concentric and bored Drawings, on a feather of clear colour. Not to confuse(merge) with the border. In case of meshing, the edge of the feather stays of the thorough colour.
COAT : Set(group) of the feathers of the camail, the back, the loins and the shoulders, when they are the same complexion or of nearby complexion.
MIRROR : Said also ' triangle ". Task of triangular shape situated at the end of the closed wing of certain races. She(it) is formed with the external beards of the secondary, only visible rémiges when the wing is closed.
FLY : Stain red brown on each side with the camail of the dark cock Faverolles.
