GLOSSARY  (N - Z)


TRUE DWARF or DWARF OF ORIGIN : say itself of a dwarfish race which has not the equivalent in the big races. The Britishs name them " Bantams " by opposition to "Miniature".

CLOUDY : little regular clear Marks(brands) on the plumage of a monochrome subject. Defect to be estimated(be esteemed) according to its importance.

EYE OF COCK : orange-coloured red Iris.

PEARLED EYE : very clear straw-coloured Iris.

VESCE'S EYE : dark brown Iris in blackish.

EYE OF FISH : discolored or greenish iris. Defect eliminating heat.

MUMPS : Fold of bare skin situated under the opening of the auditory canal. The colour varies according to the race. Do not have anything to see with the sense(direction) of the hearing.

PAILLEUX : yellowish Reflection on a white plumage. Defect to be appreciated according to its importance. Tolerated to the grown-up cocks of some races.

BUTTERFLY : Bundle of feathers of the colour of the body, situated above nostrils and in front of the white hoopoe(crest) of the very rich(crested) Dutchwoman. Defect when it is too important. Its grooming by section or lifting is authorized because it does not forbid the judge to appreciate the initial importance of it.

PARQUET(PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S DEPARTMENT) : Environment of a group intended for the reproduction; this group itself. In exhibition, group of a cock and three hens presented in the same cage.

FINERY : Set(group) formed with the camail and the lancets of the loins of the cock.

PAW : Set(group) of the rear limb. More frequently used to indicate(appoint) only bare part and écailleuse or tarsus.

PAW OF DUCK : Defect of the position of the thumb which, either does not get(touch) the ground, or is diverted on the side. Defect eliminating heat, frequent especially at the English dwarfish Fighter modern.

PATTU : say itself of a subject of which tarsi and fingers are emplumés.

FRONT : Left before of the breast, visible when the animal is of face.

DOWN FEATHERS : very small feathers on the tarsi of a subject with paws normally not emplumées. Light defect except when they are too plentiful or too big. Authorized grooming.

PEPPER : bored, generally unwanted Powdering, on feathers of clear colour. Defect to be appreciated according to its importance.

TAIL OF SQUIRREL : Tail too much raised(found) forward (angle of tail superior to 90 °).
Light defect to Nagasaki (except when the fall forward is too important); one says while the animal " encapuchonne ". Grave defect in all the other races.

RACHIS : central Stalk of the feather, implanted in the skin.

RÉCESSIF : say itself of a bother which must absolutely be homozygous so that the action is visible. Numerous poultry are porter of one or several bothers récessifs heterozygous which express themselves sometimes at random of a crossing with another bearer of the same bother, generally in the surprise of the breeder.

RECTRICES : Big feathers forming the main thing of the tail; to the cock they are masked totally or partially by sickles.

PRIMARY RÉMIGES : Big stiff and outside feathers of the wing, being of use mainly to the flight(theft), where from sometimes named(appointed) "flight("theft"). Among ten. Invisible when the wing is closed.

SECONDARY RÉMIGES : Big feathers of the wing, less stiff than the primary, situated among the primary and the body. Among ten. Only visible when the wing is closed.

RUSTY : reddish Spots in the coverages of the wing and the back. Defect to all the hens with more or less gilded(bronzed) coat or partridge except to Welsumer.

SADDLE : Set(group) of homogeneous colour formed with the back and the shoulders.

FURROW : Hollow lengthened(stretched out) in a frizzy crest. Grave defect.

SILK : Plumage without barbules of the Negro silk.

UNDER · COLOUR : Complexion of the base of feathers, invisible outside.

TARSUS : visible, bare Part (except exception) of the rear limb of the poultry, situated between the shin and the fingers, covered with scales. Term "Tarsus" is dedicated by the custom(usage) but it is really about the metatarsus.

GROOMING : Set(group) of operations authorized to highlight a poultry before its presentation in exhibition.

TRIANGLE : To see Mirror.

TRIO : In exhibition: a group of a cock and two hens presented in the same cage.

MONOCHROME : say itself of a poultry the set(group) of the plumage of which is the same tint (white, black, wildcat(fawn), etc.).

UNITY : Presentation in exhibition of a single animal in a cage.

FLIGHT(THEFT) : Set(group) of the primary rémiges of a poultry. Sometimes together all the rémiges.

AVIARY : closed Environment of a some group of poultry. In exhibition, group of a cock and five in six hens presented in the same cage.

EYES MINNOWS : Eyes of different colours on the same subject. Defect eliminating heat.
