GREEN JUNGLE FOWL

Gallus varius. In french : Le coq de Java

It(he) differs sharply from our domestic poultry and the other wild cocks. The crest, green, blue then red, of the base towards the summit, is not indented; the throat(breast) is widely stripped(revealed) and the barb is unique(only), red, yellow and blue. The feathers of the camail are not lancéolées but wide, ended in roundness, blacks with blue and green border. The lancets of loins are plentiful and long, dark green lined of yellow.

He lives in Java and in the nearby islands where temperature stays in the neighborhood of thirty degrees all year long; it(he) adapts himself so with difficulty in our winters during which(whom) it(he) must be warmed.

The natives arrest him(it) to cross him(it) with domestic hens. The obtained hybrids, named " Bekissars ", generally infertile, are very beautiful but especially raised(brought up) on the spot for their powerful and prolonged song.

More than rare in captivity, it is not advised to try to adapt him(it) to our aviaries has less to possess special installations being able to be closed and to be warmed during winter months.
